Treatment Program For The Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered Community

The Challenges model represents a new and unique direction in relapse treatment and prevention. Challenges is the first treatment facility to be nationally certified by Terence Gorski as a Relapse Prevention "Center of Excellence". The program combines cutting edge relapse prevention treatment with a multitude of variant treatment modalities for treatment of co-occurring & multi occurring disorders. Twelve Step Recovery is also a foundational component of the program.

The gay and lesbian treatment program at Challenges provides quality substance abuse and a dual diagnose treatment to members of the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community. The program operates on the disease concept model and utilizes cognitive/behavioral, experiential as well as many new and innovative treatment interventions.

The program incorporates the Gorski relapse prevention treatment model and includes educational sessions, individual therapy, group therapy, pain management, spirituality groups, anger management, self esteem groups as well as relapse prevention treatment. Clients are exposed to the 12-step program of recovery and are assisted in the beginning to incorporate that program in their daily lives.

Our staff is experienced in the treatment of issues relating to sexual orientation and includes licensed therapists and psychiatrists who are board certified in neuropsychiatry and addictionology, certified addiction professionals, as well as certified relapse treatment and prevention professionals.

Gay and lesbian behavioral therapy specific groups address a variety of issues including sexual orientation, coming out, internalized homophobia, trauma and risk taking behavior.

Therapists and other addiction behavioral specialists are on staff to help clients with the areas of lifestyle and sexuality issues directly in a confidential environment.

Challenges prides itself on providing a safe, supportive environment for the treatment of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

Challenges Intensive Relapse Treatment and Prevention Program will provide clients with the tools they need to help them identify their own particular warning signals and trigger mechanisms. At the same time, Challenges helps them prepare a concrete plan for success in the future.
